These two artists are coming out of Florida. Yung Rican is an upcoming singer who writes his own music and can also make his own beats. C-Mack is a rapper who already has a decent fan base. If you have not yet heard of C-Mack, you could download his mixtape "Mack City" hosted by Slip N Slide's DJ DA
Astro is in The X Factor Competition and has been making the audience go crazy! This kid has lyrics, flow and stage performance. Astro is the first hip-hop contestant to be on The X Factor. His mentor, LA, worries how America would react to this young hip-hop artist. Astro has made it to the live show stage 4.
Even if Astro does not win this competition, there are millions of people throughout America who have seen him perform and seen his skills, some of those people being record labels. So win or lose, astro will win anyway.
This artist/producer is the new generation of hip-hop.
Not only does he have the lyrics, he also has potential. There are a millions of upcoming hip-hop artists each year and chances are only a few of them will make it. In order to be somebody in the hip-hop world, you must provide something different and a new style, which is exactly what this artist does. Young D The Don produces his own music which is not something that most rappers can say. Currently attends Full Sail University for Music Production...now that's dedication.
Seems to have a little of Currency in him but with a new style of his own. If you are a currency or wiz khalifa fan then you will become a fan of Bizz(y)...that is if your not already.
As of now he has a local fan base,
seems like with a little promotion this artist could make it into the hip-hop game.
Most new upcoming hip-hop artists record at home. This may be caused by either a low budget or they just rather record at home where they are comfortable. If you are recording at home due to a low budget, then you most likely don't have high end gear and/or software.
MICROPHONE SELECTION:
A good starting microphone for those on a budget is the Samson C01U USB-Condenser Mic. You just plug and you are ready to record! For those who could afford to spend a bit more on a microphone, the Rhode NT1-A is one of the best microphones for home studios, even for recording studios! If you decide to go with a different microphone, make sure you do your research. For vocals, specially rap vocals, you want a condenser microphone.
SOFTWARE SELECTION/TUTORIAL:
Software selection is very important. Not only do you have to make sure that the software could record, you also have to make sure it is made for recording music. For example, you don't want to be recording you music on windows recorder. For those who are on a budget and are just starting out with music and don't know much about the process, Cool Edit Pro 2 is a great starter software. It is easy to learn and has everything you need to make a great song with good quality. Here is a tutorial on how to get great quality with Cool Edit Pro:
Next week, we will talk about vocal processing as well as mixing and mastering of a song.
